Can I get aches / pains insurance?
Some schemes, usually the more expensive top-of-the-range ones, will provide unlimited physiotherapy, but only following related in-patient or day-patient treatment within six months.
Similarly, moving from one provider to another may result in any pre-existing conditions being excluded.
As a result, I would not recommend cancelling or transferring from your current policy, as this may lead to problems getting cover for pre-existing conditions. At the same time, it is unlikely that an alternative private medical insurance provider would be able to improve on your current level of physiotherapy.
At Perkins Slade, we offer a unique range of specialist sports insurance policies for those taking part in sport and recreation, including a policy called PhysioCare, which allows access to physiotherapy treatment via a network of physiotherapists and rehabilitation specialists.
This service provides an initial assessment and up to four treatment sessions per claim and up to four individual claims per person, per period of cover, up to a maximum of 16 treatments per person.
Unfortunately, this is available only via a group or affinity scheme; we cannot arrange it on an ad hoc, individual basis.
If you are a member of a running club, perhaps you could arrange for them to contact Andrew Goldbourne at Perkins Slade (0121 698 8057), with a view to arranging something for the whole club
